Texas A&M Football: Aggies Hang Around in CFB Playoff Top 10
In spite of criticism from the national media, the CFB playoff committee kept the Texas A&M football team in the top 10 where they belong.
Most said that Texas A&M was ranked too high in last week’s poll. The Aggies didn’t help their case over the weekend, losing on the road to Mississippi State. Rather than overreact, the committee looked at the Aggies’ resume and slotted them accordingly in the second edition of the college football playoff rankings.
Texas A&M comes in this week as the eighth ranked team, one spot above Auburn whom they beat earlier in the season. As the rankings currently stand, the Aggies have wins against two ranked opponents: No. 9 Auburn and No. 25 Arkansas

It seems like the selection committee might have also factored in the loss of Trevor Knight during last weekend’s loss. You don’t have to think too far back to remember a College Football Playoff team that was also written out in November after losing their starting quarterback to injury: the 2014 National Champions, Ohio State.

Playoff Implications
Never say never. In 2014 that Ohio State championship team debuted at number 16 in the playoff rankings. Unlike that team, the Aggies have two losses rather than just one. Regardless, a top te ranking gives the Aggies the opportunity to sneak back into contention should there be chaos in the closing weeks.
The Aggies chances of making it into the final four at this point are slim, but a New Year’s Six Bowl is well within reach if they can stay in the top 10. First thing’s first. They’ll need to take care of Ole Miss at Kyle Field this weekend.
