Texas A&M Football: Trevor Knight's Texas A&M Career is Over
Much to Texas A&M football fan’s dismay, Trevor Knight’s only season in Aggieland is officially over.
Trevor Knight’s injured his should on a 19 yard touchdown run in Saturday’s loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Knight returned to the game for two series, but backup quarterback Jake Hubenak played the duration of the game after Knight was clearly in too much pain to continue.
Sumlin announced at his regular Tuesday press conference that Knight would not be able to return this season. The loss of his leadership on the field comes at a time when the team is need of a bounce back victory to stay in contention for a New Year’s Six bowl.
Knight, a graduate transfer from the University of Oklahoma, finishes his Aggie career as a 52.5 percent passer with 1,911 yards through the air and 13 passing touchdowns. He also carried the ball 88 times for 583 yards and 10 touchdowns.

What’s Next for Texas A&M at Quarterback?
Hubenak is presumably in line to make his first start at Kyle Field this weekend against the Rebels. He started the Liberty Bowl against Louisville after the surprising transfers of quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray.
Kevin Sumlin did not rule out the possibility of playing red shirt freshman quarterback Nick Starkel, going as far as to say that he talked with Starkel and his family already. The word from Starkel’s camp is that he will be ready to do whatever is needed. At this point it’s not likely the Aggies call on him this weekend, but he could be just one injury away from playing significant minutes this season.
Four star, dual threat quarterback Kellen Mond headlines the 2017 recruiting class that will be ready to contribute next season. It might be in Starkel’s best interest to burn his red shirt and prove he can play ball in the SEC. He might just get that chance against LSU on Thanksgiving night.
