Texas A&M made a long-expected move official Sunday, as offensive coordinator Jake Spavital and A&M "mutually decided to part ways" following three seasons of coaching in College Station. The Aggies released a statement over the weekend making the news official.

"I want to thank Jake for his time here and for his important role in our program," head coach Kevin Sumlin said. "He is a bright, young coach with a tremendous future in coaching and we wish him all the best in his career."

The Aggies stated that a national search would be undertaken to find A&M's next offensive coordinator.

"I want to thank Coach Sumlin for an amazing opportunity in College Station and I leave here proud of our program and our accomplishments," Spavital said.  "I look forward to the next step in my coaching journey and I wish the Aggies nothing but the best."

During his three seasons with the Aggies, Spavital served as quarterback coach all three seasons and offensive coordinator the last two. Spavital was also a key recruiter for A&M and was credited as instrumental in the recruitment of quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray.
