Texas Longhorns' leading rusher to have finger surgery
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas tailback and leading rusher D'Onta Foreman will have surgery on his right pinkie and his status is uncertain for the Longhorns' next game against Texas Tech on Thanksgiving, coach Charlie Strong said Wednesday.
Foreman has 681 yards this season and averages 7.2 yards per carry for Texas (4-6, 3-4 Big 12). He was injured in the second half of last week's loss at West Virginia. The Longhorns must win their final two games to automatically qualify for a bowl in Strong's second season.
Strong also denied speculation that he could be interested in the vacant head coaching job at Miami. His name has repeatedly surfaced because of his ties to the state of Florida in previous stints at the University of Florida.
Strong is 10-13 in two years at Texas.
"I have to be successful here," Strong said.
