Texas QB Heard listed as day-to-day with Baylor date looming

The Baylor Bears know they will play Saturday's regular-season finale against Texas with third-string quarterback Chris Johnson. The Longhorns still aren't sure if they'll be down to their second-stringer.

Starter Jerrod Heard, knocked out of the Thanksgiving loss against Texas Tech with a concussion, is listed as day-to-day, according to Texas coach Charlie Strong, leaving the redshirt freshman's availability in doubt.

If Heard can't play, Tyrone Swoopes will bookend the season with his only two starts. Swoopes started the season-opener at Notre Dame, but after producing only a field goal in a 38-3 drubbing, Strong made the switch to Heard.

Heard has completed 92-of-157 passes for 1,214 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions. He's been far more effective as a rusher, gaining 556 yards, second-highest on the team behind sophomore running back D'Onta Foreman, on 4.1 yards per carry.

Swoopes has remained part of the offense in goal-line situations and has a team-high 11 rushing touchdowns, twice as many as the next highest total, Foreman's five.
