Unless you're an Alabama fan, you've probably forgotten about the 2012 BCS national championship game.

Why would you remember it?

The Crimson Tide beat LSU 21-0 in New Orleans on a night that lacked any semblance of intrigue.

But there is one incredible thing about that game that ace Alabama beat writer Andrew Gribble of al.com dug up on the heels of the NFL Draft:

That national championship has produced 43 NFL draft picks.

Forty-three!

Fifteen of Alabama's 22 starters in that game have been selected, and each starting defense had eight of 11 players drafted.

In the first-round battle, Alabama claims nine such selections from the '12 title game (Trent Richardson, Chance Warmack, D.J. Fluker, Dre Kirkpatrick, Mark Barron, Dont'a Hightower, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Dee Milliner and C.J. Mosley) while LSU has five (Odell Beckham Jr., Michael Brockers, Barkevious Mingo, Morris Claiborne and Eric Reid).

Check out Andrew's post for more of these nuggets and a full breakdown of all 43 players drafted. Good work.
