Tigers players rally around Swinney's 'Clemsoning' rant
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney’s epic “Clemsoning” rant after Saturday’s 43-24 victory over Georgia Tech struck a chord with his players, who have rallied behind their coach.
“I thought it was pretty awesome. I feel like that word triggered something in his head,” said Clemson tight end Jordan Leggett said. “None of us like the word, so he just spazzed on whoever said it.”
The term “Clemsoning” grew out of the Tigers perceived penchant for blowing key games. This year, Clemson (5-0, 2-0 ACC) has risen up to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 Poll thanks to a big win over Notre Dame two weeks ago and convincing victory over ACC rival Georgia Tech.
It was after the win over the Yellow Jackets that “Clemsoning” came up, and Swinney was not shy about letting the media know how he felt about that term and the fact it was brought up after a win.
“I definitely wish we could have been there,” Leggett said. “The players would have given him a round of applause. But I kind of feel bad for the guy who asked the question.”
