Tight end? Defensive end? Remington Peck is versatile

Remington Peck is perhaps the most versatile player BYU has, and Bronco Mendenhall is treating him as such. Peck spent time on the defensive line and at tight end in the Cougars' last game, but how much longer will that trend last?

Peck was a tight end in high school, but has spent his career in Provo on the other side of the ball. One day, Mendenhall approached him in practice and asked him if he'd like to play tight end for the day.

As it turns out, he might be BYU's best option at that spot.

“You might be the best tight end in our program,” offensive coordinator Robert Anae said, according to Peck. “You’re going to be here the rest of the year.”

Now, his snaps will actually mostly come on offense, according to Mendenhall.

“Today’s the day. It officially happened,” Peck said Tuesday. “They gave me the (blue) jersey. Not that I was trying to fight it, but I’ve been in white for so long … As of right now, I’m full practice at tight end but still playing in the games on defense. I’m just grateful to help where I can. Hopefully, I’ll do my best and be an asset there.”
