Troubles running the football could lead to OL change for Mizzou
As a means to spur on more success running the football, head coach Gary Pinkel hinted that changes could be imminent along the offensive line.
Missouri is rushing to the tune of a 3.2 yards-per-carry average. As a result, the Tigers are struggling against SEC competition. True freshman Drew Lock is having to bear the burden of winning conference games with his arm, as opposed to relying on what was reputed to be a productive ground game.
Running back Russell Hansbrough's lack of health throughout the year truly contributes to the struggles running the rock. The senior from Texas is arguably Mizzou's best offensive weapon, and is surely the most dynamic player on the roster. A problematic ankle has resulted in Hansbrough rushing for only 190 yards on 44 carries.
Additionally, the offensive line has been beset by injury, inconsistency, and a constant influx of positional change. There has yet to be a cohesive effort within the group, something that's somewhat surprising with the amount of experience made available to Pinkel and his staff.
Going forward Missouri will need to find a combination up front that allows for more production in the run game.
If this scenario does not unfold, Missouri might struggle to make a bowl appearance.
