UCLA Football: Jim Mora Gives An Update on the Bruins Going Into the UNLV Game
UCLA Football Head Coach Jim Mora gave an update on the team as they prepare for UNLV this Saturday at the Rose Bowl.
Texas A&M is in the past which means the UCLA Football team is looking to the future as they prepare to take on the UNLV Rebels this Saturday.
The media session started when Mora was asked about QB Josh Rosen‘s reaction to losing their first game and how he is responding to it. Mora said that Rosen, as well as the rest of the team, is practicing with a sense of urgency after they lost to the Texas A&M Aggies, 31-24.

Mora was asked if there was any negative effects of Rosen playing under center in their new system after playing most of his career in shotgun. The coach shot down that notion and claimed “Quarterbacks are quartebacks. Reads are reads. Routes are routes.” Basically, Rosen should know what to expect.
TE Caleb Wilson will be seeing more time on the field. Because of this, the off-season favorite to start at tight end Nate Iese will see less time due to lack of production, stated Mora.
RB Nate Starks did not travel with the team last week to College Station and is uncertain for this Saturday. He is currently practicing with the team, but Mora said it will be his decision to play Starks against UNLV. It is unknown why Starks is not guaranteed to play.
As for the pool of talent at running back, Mora said “at some point, all five backs will play”. Last week we saw Soso Jamabo and Bolu Olorunfunmi take all the snaps at RB. Starks will also get carries when he returns but Mora has also been quick to praise two true freshmen, Jalen Starks and Brandon Stephens, who have impressed in fall camp and practice.
LB Mique Juarez is still has an excused absence.
Injury Report
DE Takkarist McKinley is still feeling the effects of a groin injury he sustain at Texas A&M.
