UCLA kicker breaks school record, nails 60-yard field goal
UCLA kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn looked like one of the best kickers in the country Thursday night, nailing a 60-yard field goal during the Bruins 40-24 home win over No. 20 Cal.
Fairbairn first hit a 55-yard attempt, but the call was reversed because of a UCLA illegal procedure and he was moved back 5 yards. Then, as time expired in the first half against the Golden Bears, he hit the 60-yard field goal with smooth precision. It was the second-longest field goal in Pac-12 history, per ESPN Stats & Info.
UCLA coach Jim Mora ran onto the field as his team mobbed Fairbairn. The score gave the Bruins a 26-10 lead at the half over the 20th-ranked Bears. It was Fairbairn's fourth field goal of the evening.
Earlier in the night, pregame entertainment also showcased a different kind of crazy field goal at the Rose Bowl.
