UCLA's Mora compares BYU QB Mangum with Johnny Manziel
The UCLA Bruins have a huge game on Saturday vs. BYU, highlighting a clash of two great freshman quarterbacks.
UCLA coach Jim Mora was recently asked about his upcoming opponent, offering some interesting analysis. Mora compared BYU's Tanner Mangum with Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel, who was also known around the country for a ridiculously impressive freshman campaign at Texas A&M.
According to the Orange County Register's Joey Kaufman, Mora said, "He’s got kind of those Johnny Manziel qualities: runs around, slings it and they come up with it."
Manziel was 43-of-66 with 467 yards, 4 TDs and no interceptions through the first two games of his career. He also added 184 rushing yards for 3 TDs on 30 attempts, boasting a 1-1 record. Mangum is 24-of-39 in the air, throwing 420 yards with 3 TDs and 2 interceptions.
Mangum is undefeated thus far, but is quite a bit less impressive on the ground. He has -12 yards on 15 attempts. Was it a fair comparison from coach Jim Mora?
