UConn football coach's fettuccine recipe was passed down from JFK
We've officially hit the doldrums of the college football offseason, the time of year where the only time any player or coach makes headlines is when they've done something wrong. That will change with Media Days right around the corner, but man, wouldn't it be nice to get some meaty, juicy college football news on an otherwise slow Friday in the summer?
It sure would be, and to take that awful pun one step forward, we got it courtesy of UConn coach Bob Diaco on Friday. Diaco did a wide-ranging interview with Sports Illustrated, and in it, he revealed an incredible nugget of information: He has a secret recipe, courtesy of ... wait, are you ready for this?
John F. Kennedy.
No, we're not kidding, and here is the incredible back story:
Hmm, cooking advice from JFK. Definitely not what we were expecting on this particular Friday.
At the same time, it is an incredible story, and digging deeper into the piece, it really is a fascinating interview with Diaco overall, who is quickly turning into one of the more fascinating young coaches in the sport. He's also turning into one of the most successful ones, leading UConn to a bowl game in his second year, just two seasons after the Huskies went 3-9 in 2013.
So yeah, as a UConn alum I'm happy to have him.
I also wonder how soon bigger Power 5 programs will try to poach him, and his cooking recipes going forward.
