UGA's Smart helicopters in to salvage recruitment of No. 1 prospect
With less then a week until Wednesday's National Signing Day arrives, Georgia is doing whatever it can to get back into the good graces of the state's top prospect, defensive tackle Derrick Brown. Long considered the favorite to land the Lanier High School standout, Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee are rumored to have overtaken the Bulldogs in his recruitment.
According to Keith Niebuhr of 247Sports, Brown's top three schools are currently the aforementioned SEC rivals of Georgia. Ranked as a five-star prospect and a top 10 overall prospect nationally by both 247Sports and Scout, losing out on the top in-state prospect and nationally heralded Brown would obviously not be a great start for Kirby Smart and his newly assembled UGA staff.
However, Smart has not yet given up on his recruitment of Brown. In order to beat the traffic Thursday morning, Georgia's head coach found an alternative method of transportation:

Don't count Georgia out of the race for Brown just yet, as much can change during the final week of recruiting. The top defensive tackle is scheduled to be in Knoxville this weekend for Tennessee's star-studded official visitor weekend, which is expected to rival any recruiting weekend around the nation for incoming visitors prior to signing day.
Meanwhile, some of those whom follow recruiting the closest have all begun to predict Brown to ultimately sign with Auburn:

In case you were wondering, Brown himself gave an update on his recruitment Thursday:
After the visit to Rocky Top, the top defensive tackle plans to announce his final decision during Feb. 3rd's National Signing Day.
