UNC Football: 2017 running back flips commit to Tar Heels
UNC Football got a big recruiting flip on Sunday. Find out who switched from Purdue to UNC
It’s been a disappointing week for the North Carolina Tar Heels football program. First, they lost a heartbreaker to rival Duke.
Then on Saturday, the Virginia Tech Hokies lost to Georgia Tech making that prior UNC loss a little more tough to take.
But on Sunday, the team received some good news.
Class of 2017 running back Antwuan Branch has committed to the Tar Heels, flipping his prior commitment from Purdue.
The 5-foot-11, 200 pound back had numerous offers including Wisconsin, Purdue, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Tennessee and North Carolina.
Branch originally committed to Purdue on June 24, but decommitted on Sunday and announced he has flipped to UNC.
For the Tar Heels it’s a big commitment after running back Adarius Lemons flipped from UNC to Florida back in July. Branch gives them another recruit as T.J. Logan will graduate and Elijah Hood could head to the NFL Draft.

Branch becomes UNC’s 15th commitment in the 2017 class with the program still in the running for more. He’s the 77th ranked running back and 33rd ranked prospect in Tennessee according to 247 Sports.
The Tar Heels will look to add more to their impressive class in the next signing period. Check back with Keeping It Heel for more information on UNC’s football team and recruiting.
