UNC Football: Larry Fedora wanted Baylor job?

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Did Larry Fedora really want the Baylor job before it was filled?

The coaching carousel continues in College Football as we prepare for bowl season. There are still two big jobs open in Oregon and Houston, after both Baylor and Purdue filled their vacancies the past two days.

Former Temple coach Matt Rhule was just named the new head coach at Baylor, ending that open position.

But following that news, Bleacher Report’s Jason King sent out an interesting tweet regarding the Baylor job and UNC head coach Larry Fedora.

According to King, Fedora wanted the Baylor job but wasn’t even given an interview.

Now, King is the only one reporting this so take it for what its worth. We have a hard time believing that Fedora wasn’t given an interview at Baylor if he really wanted the job.

It wouldn’t have been a big step up for Fedora but more of a lateral move. Baylor’s program has a dark cloud still hovering around it, so there’s that to consider.  Plus, is it really that much more desirable than UNC?

Fedora has stepped in and improved UNC, despite the disappointing season in 2016. He can still build up the program to what it needs to be.

Plus, with his ties to Baylor, why wouldn’t they at least give him an interview.

The good news is that if you want Fedora to stay at UNC, those chances continue to grow as the only two jobs currently open are Oregon and Houston.

Stay tuned for anymore Fedora developments.
