UNC Football: Larry Fedora's press conference following win
Here is UNC head coach Larry Fedora’s press conference following the win over Illinois on Saturday
Still celebrating that North Carolina Tar Heels win from Saturday night? Well good, we are too.
The Tar Heels did what they had to do in Champaign to beat the Fighting Illini, especially after a slow start.
UNC rallied off 17 points in the second quarter to really put some separation between them and the Illini and they never looked back. The Tar Heels finished off the Fighting Illini 48-23 to earn their first win of the season.
After the game, head coach Larry Fedora met with the Jones Angell to discuss his team’s performance and he was very pleased:
Fedora also met with media members following the game to discuss more. By the way, love the brick setting:
Some highlights of both pressers:
Fedora was under some criticism for going for it on third down with just two seconds left in the first half. The Tar Heels attempted a pass on a slant route to Mack Hollins which went incomplete and probably left three points on the board.
The head coach discussed that in the second video. “That was all me,” Fedora said. “Here was my thinking. If we kick the field goal, we are going to go up 11, how much momentum we were going to create for ourselves. Guys were going to be disappointed and I knew we were going to get the ball back in the second half.”
It didn’t really hurt the Tar Heels as they scored at the 8:25 mark in the third quarter and never really looked back.
Now the Tar Heels will begin to prepare for James Madison who comes into Kenan Memorial Stadium for the team’s home opener.
