UNC Football: Malik Zaire to visit UNC soon?
Quarterback transfer Malik Zaire is set to visit UNC according to a new report
The talks of former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire and the North Carolina Tar Heels continue to get interesting.
Last week, Zaire was granted his official release from Notre Dame and some there was reported interest between the quarterback and UNC.
Now today, we get word that Zaire will likely be on campus this upcoming weekend for a visit to Chapel Hill.
Irish247 is reporting that a visit from Zaire to UNC is likely happening this weekend. They also reported that the race for Zaire is down to two teams: UNC and Pittsburgh.
Here’s what they wrote on the situation:
As we previously reported, we believe this is a two-team battle between North Carolina and Pittsburgh. With the Tar Heels, the hangup at this point is seeing what quarterback Mitch Trubisky decides to do. If he returns to Chapel Hill, we’re told Zaire will not end up at North Carolina. However, it’s believed that the Heels would be the favorite if Trubisky forgoes his remaining eligibility and leaves for the NFL Draft. With Zaire visiting this week, it furthers our thought that Trubisky’s playing days in Chapel Hill are done. However, again, nothing is finalized on that front.
The ending part about Trubisky is consistent with what we are hearing. If Trubisky decides to return to UNC, Zaire will likely choose Pittsburgh.
If Trubisky leaves, the Tar Heels just might be the favorite to land Zaire. Pittsburgh also has a good shot as they are looking to add a quarterback to their roster.
Whatever happens over the next few weeks will be real interesting and could be a big factor in how UNC’s program has success in the future.
