UNC Football: Tar Heels ready to take on Georgia Tech
The Tar Heels and the Yellow Jackets both come into this week’s game placing a significant importance on the meeting.
A 6-2 UNC should be refreshed, revamped, and ready to play when Georgia Tech comes to town on Saturday, but so should the Yellow Jackets.
As we look forward to this week’s matchup with the Rambling Wreck, North Carolina will likely be a little younger on the offensive line, and a little stronger on the D-line. With Drennon and Dalton likely to take more snaps, Gene Chizik should have his defensive plan in order for Saturday’s matchup.
On the other hand, Tech is building off of a victory two weeks ago against an unknown Duke squad. Paul Johnsons’ group was 3-5 after 8 games in 2015, but has reversed that record this season and comes in at 5-3 overall.
To recap the last Chapel Hill meeting, Carolina won a shoot out 48-43, and while we are on shootouts, this series has been an all out shootout since Larry Fedora took over in 2011.
If the average score over the last ten years was the outcome of 2016, Ga. Tech would be a 41-37 victor. You can never count this Ga. Tech team out.

What’s at Stake?
For Ga. Tech, to capture their 6th victory would make them bowl eligible with a chance at tremendous improvement from last year if they were to go on to win out.
Looking at UNC, with a loss, all hopes of a Coastal title would be out the door, and that goal in particular would not be met.
Why Georgia Tech will win:
The Yellow Jackets will if they are able to open the field up early with the option. With this offense moving down hill early and often, UNC will have their hands full and have to play catch up all day. That’s not something Larry Fedora wants for his squad to have to do.
Why UNC will win:
If North Carolina is able to control the line on both sides of the ball, this will not be a game at all. The Heels have the ability to score and score quickly as we have seen throughout the year. They must avoid turnovers, capitalize on mistakes, and be weary of penalties.
What happens:
This is a game where a rested North Carolina team will come out ready to play led by both the offense and the defense. There may be moments where the Yellow Jackets appear to be in the game, but at some point, UNC proves too much for the away team and ultimately runs away with it. Under Gene Chizik’s play calling North Carolina’s defense will be disciplined enough to contain Ga. Tech’s attack, and this game will be more lopsided than some would have predicted.
