UNC QB Williams gets pep talk from NFL legend
North Carolina’s Marquise Williams got off to a rough start in his 2015 debut as the Tar Heels quarterback threw three costly interceptions during UNC’s 17-13 loss to South Carolina.
Two of Williams’ three INTs came in the end zone, while all three were in South Carolina territory. However, if there was one positive to be gained from the experience, Williams at least got to talk to future NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning.
The Broncos legendary quarterback reached out to the Heels' signal-caller to give him a little pep talk after the disappointing outing.
“He gave me a text and told me to give him a call and I did,” Williams told the Raleigh News & Observer. “And he just said, 'Go out and play your game.' I felt like it was over (after the loss), man. It just felt like you just everything. But when I got that call I was like, man, I'm back at it. Let's move on.”
Sound advice.
The Tar Heels will move on to play N.C. A&T this weekend.
