UNLV's Tony Sanchez signs 9 junior college players

LAS VEGAS (AP) UNLV coach Tony Sanchez has gone the JUCO route to fill some immediate needs.

The first-year Rebels coach signed nine junior college players during the early signing period Wednesday, believed to be the most in program history

The group includes former Nebraska quarterback Johnny Stanton, who played at Saddleback College last season, along with linebackers Brian Keyes (Scottsdale CC) and Anthony Gutierrez (Santa Monica College).

The others: defensive backs Robert Jackson (College of the Sequoias) and Michael Adams (Laney College); offensive lineman Michael Chevalier (San Diego Mesa College); receiver Malik Dumetz (American River College); and tight ends Tim Holt (Fullerton College) and Trevor Kanteman (Pierce College).

UNLV finished 3-9 in Sanchez's first season.
