Utah making its presence known in Florida recruiting circles
Utah just landed its fourth recruit from the state of Florida for the class of 2016.
Ohaji Hawkins is a 6-foot-1 cornerback who sees the impact Utah's made in developing NFL-caliber cornerbacks. Hawkins would like to be in that position some day, which is why he chose the Utes. It's players like Hawkins that's drawing rave review from Florida recruits being overlooked by powerhouse schools in their own state, according to Matt Piper at the Salt Lake Tribune.
"It's already a big recruiting year in the Sunshine State for Utah, which currently has four Florida recruits committed to the 2016 class," Piper reports. "Hawkins said the Utes are becoming a talked-about program in Florida, particularly among those recruits who might be overlooked by bigger schools in the South. Hawkins said his father was among the first to reach Utah and advise him that it might be a good destination."
