Valparaiso gets first win, 44-10 over Trinity International
DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) Cody Boxrucker had just 17 yards in nine carries, but three resulted in touchdowns as Valparaiso earned its first win in three games to start the season, drubbing NAIA Trinity International, 44-10 Saturday afternoon.
After back-to-back losses to Montana and Duquesne, Valparaiso looked to get a win under its belt before starting Pioneer League play next week.
Jimmy Seewald was 17 of 22 passing for 238 yards and two touchdowns for the Crusaders while Jarrett Morgan carried eight times for 127 yards, including an 86-yard scamper.
Frank Catrine raced 49 yards on the final play of the first quarter to put Valparaiso ahead for good, then caught a 12-yard pass from Seewald for a touchdown.
Chris Wolcott got Trinity International even in the first quarter, finding Mikale Hill with a 30-yard touchdown pass that made it 7-7 in the first quarter. Wolcott finished 6 of 9 passing for 97 yards.
