Vanderbilt causes some waves in recruiting world with commitment
In somewhat of a recruiting shocker, Vanderbilt garnered the services of elite prospect JoeJuan Williams this past weekend.
A native of nearby Hendersonville, the safety opted to stay in Nashville over offers from virtually every major program in the country -- including in-state rival Tennessee.
It was a significant recruiting win for head coach Derek Mason. Not only is Vanderbilt coming off of a rough 4-8 season, but the program itself is handcuffed by high academic standards. It effectively limits the pool from which it can pull from.

With that said, landing Williams is a massive pickup. Ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee by Rivals.com, he should impact the depth chart from the moment he steps on campus.
