Veii becomes third Terrapin transfer in one week's time
After spending the spring trying to transition from wide receiver to running back, Jacquille Veii has decided to leave the Maryland program.
As ESPN.com's Dan Murphy notes, Veii's exit does not cripple the Terrapin backfield, but his exit combined with the earlier announcement senior Albert Reid is also transferring leaves only a pair of experienced options at running back for head coach Randy Edsall: 5-10, 205-pound senior Brandon Ross and 6-0, 210-pound junior Wes Brown.
Also joining the program this fall will be Ty Johnson, a Scout.com three-star recruit from Cumberland who was rated the No. 1 running back in Maryland for the 2015 class. Listed 5-10 and only 173 pounds on National Signing Day, Johnson appears to be a player more in the mold of Veii than the two veteran runners on the roster.
Safety Zach Dancel also announced his intent to transfer when Reid's exit became public.
