Vernon Adams Jr. gets Unitas Award watch nod despite not being on roster

Published Aug. 5, 2015 5:40 p.m. ET

Vernon Adams Jr. has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list, despite not currently being on Oregon's roster.

Adams, who is expected to officially complete his transfer to Oregon on Aug. 13, is also not guaranteed to be Oregon's starting QB this season. Adams will compete with redshirt junior Jeff Lockie for the position.

Last year, Oregon's Marcus Mariota took home the Unitas Award.
