Virginia Tech Football Returns to the Top 25
After a one-week absence, the Virginia Tech Hokies are once again nationally ranked in both Top 25 polls
The Virginia Tech Hokies are fresh off of their 37-16 victory over Miami last Thursday night in Blacksburg, and their blowout victory has earned them a spot in both Top 25 polls heading into Week Nine.
The Hokies are ranked at number 25 in both the Amway Coaches’ Poll, as well as the Associated Press Top 25 Media Poll, marking the third time this season that the team has made an appearance in the rankings. The team’s highest ranking was at number 17 in the AP Poll, which was two weeks ago prior to their two touchdown defeat on the road at Syracuse.

At 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, the Hokies have taken control atop the Coastal Division, in their best position to return to the ACC Championship since their last appearance in 2011. Justin Fuente’s squad was one of five teams from the ACC in the Top 25 rankings heading into Week Nine, joining North Carolina, Florida State, Louisville, and Clemson in both polls.
Virginia Tech readies themselves once again for another Thursday night battle on the road against Pittsburgh at Heinz Field, a place where the Hokies have not emerged victorious since the 1999 season.
It will be no easy task for Tech, as they will be playing their third game in 12 days when they take the field on Thursday night. The Hokies opened as 4.5-point road favorites earlier in the week, which has since narrowed to 3.5 as of Monday afternoon.
