Washington's defense versus Southern Miss' offense should be quite the show

The Heart of Dallas Bowl should feature one of the best strength-on-strength match ups of the college bowl season. Washington's defense ranked No. 1 in the Pac-12 having allowed only 17.8 points and 349.9 yards per game.

Meanwhile, Southern Miss has a powerful offense led by junior QB Nick Mullens, who was named the Conference USA player of the year. The Golden Eagles scored 40.6 points per game and averaged 519.8 yards per game this season.

“They fling it around on offense and they make a lot of big plays,” said linebacker Travis Feeney, via The Seattle Times. “We have to be ready, we have to tackle and we all have to be on the ball. … We just have to be running around, man. Just having fun — doing what we normally do.”

As for Southern Miss' style of offense, the Huskies say they're prepared for it. They've seen it all year in the Pac-12.

“We’ve pretty much been running against their style of offense all year,” said linebacker Keishawn Bierria said of the Golden Eagles. “We’ve seen it numerous times.”
