Is this the year of the lateral in college football?
Adding to the highlight reel of crazy college football plays this season, the Arkansas Razorbacks were able to defeat the 18th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels 53-52 in overtime on Saturday.
Down seven points in overtime, Arkansas was faced with a near improbable fourth-and-25 situation. Quarterback Brandon Allen found tight end Hunter Henry with a pass near the sidelines. Short of the first down, Henry threw the ball over his head right before being tackled. With the ball bouncing around, running back Alex Collins picked up the lateral and scampered for the first down. He fumbled at the end of the play but teammate Dominique Reed recovered.

Coach Bret Bielema called the play "divine intervention."
"If I had been in Henry's position, I wouldn't have thought of it," Collins said. "Next thing I knew the ball was in the sky, it landed in my hands, and I ran for my life."
The wacky fourth-down play ultimately led to a touchdown by the Razorbacks — who then won the game on a two-point conversion run by Allen.
