Watch Central Michigan beat No. 22 Oklahoma State on a controversial Hail Mary and lateral
Down by three, on the road, well out of field goal range, and with an untimed down to throw it as deep as they could, Central Michigan might just have created the best moment of the young college football season.
This Hail Mary lateral gave CMU a 30-27 win over the No. 22 Cowboys, who opted to throw the ball on their final offensive play Saturday in Stillwater, and were hit with an intentional grounding penalty, which gave the ball to CMU with an untimed down.
Fox Sports' analyst Mike Pereira said Saturday that the untimed down should not have happened, as intentional grounding is a loss-of-down penalty:
