WATCH: Freshman burner's mesmerizing punt TD is the difference (VIDEO)
Coming off its first loss of the season, TCU wanted to get off to a quick start Saturday against winless Kansas, and freshman KaVontae Turpin obliged with his first career punt return for a touchdown.
The wide receiver and kick-return specialist took it 49 yards, dodging, darting and spinning past would-be tacklers into the end zone. Watch it above.
That quick start didn't last long, however, as the Kansas defense did a good job keeping TCU's explosive offense grounded. Then Heisman candidate quarterback Trevone Boykin was lost to an ankle injury, furthering the Horned Frogs' struggles.
No. 15 TCU (9-1, 6-1) held on for the 23-17 win, but it obviously won't do it any good in terms of climbing the College Football Playoff rankings. The Frogs still have a shot to claim a share of the Big 12 title. They play Oklahoma and Baylor in their final two regular-season games.
