WATCH: Swoopes, Texas steal page from Baylor with quick-strike TD for lead
With Tyrone Swoopes back as Texas' starter for the first time since the season-opener, the junior quarterback and the Longhorns stole a page from Baylor with a quick-strike touchdown on their opening possession for a 7-0 lead.
After the Texas defense stopped Baylor on fourth-and-1, Swoopes connected with Caleb Bluiett for a 57-yard touchdown pass on the third play of the drive. Bluiett outraced the Baylor defender down the sideline and then dove into the end zone, keeping his knees off the turf before he crossed the goal line, which was confirmed by replay.
Perhaps more impressive for Texas? The 'Horns held Baylor scoreless on the Bears' first possession of the game. It's the first time that's happened all season:
The Longhorns added a field goal for a 10-0 lead with 5:45 to go in the first quarter, and then tacked on another touchdown before the quarter had ended.
Texas went on to hold off Baylor, 23-17, costing the Bears a Sugar Bowl invite.
