Week 2 FCS schedule looks even better
(STATS) - Leave some room, the first full week of FCS college football was only serving appetizers.
The schedule will keep getting better, and it's especially the case in Week 2.
There are 26 more matchups between FCS and FBS teams as the subdivision seeks to build on the four wins it posted to open the season. Among nationally ranked teams, Ohio Valley Conference power Jacksonville State will try to take advantage of Georgia Tech's short week - the Yellow Jackets play Labor Day night - when they meet in Atlanta on Saturday.
Other Top 25 matchups include Villanova at Temple, New Hampshire at Georgia Southern and Chattanooga at LSU. Montana-Washington, UT Martin-Ole Miss, Delaware-Virginia Tech and Weber State-Cal also are high-profile games.
One of the biggest nonconference matchups of the year takes place on the red turf of Eastern Washington as the Big Sky power hosts Missouri Valley kingpin North Dakota State in a Top 10 collision. NDSU won last year's matchup 50-44 in overtime.
There are even more key intersectional matchups with Richmond (CAA) at Colgate (Patriot League), Western Illinois (Missouri Valley) at Northern Arizona (Big Sky) and Bethune-Cookman (MEAC) at Southeastern Louisiana (Southland).
The week's biggest conference game pits Southern Conference favorite Wofford at Mercer.
Another SoCon team, East Tennessee State, will have its hands full as defending FCS champion James Madison, coming off an FBS win at East Carolina, plays its home opener.
