Week 4 AP Poll Features Two New Teams in Top 25

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Oklahoma and LSU dropped out of the AP Top 25 on Sunday. Which teams entered the poll, and what other shuffling occurred?

There wasn’t much change at the top of the AP Top 25 in Week 4. The top seven teams remained in their same spots. Four showdowns between Top 25 teams meant that there was some shuffling further down, but in general there were few major changes.

Here is a look at the full AP Top 25 after it was released this Sunday afternoon.

LSU and Oklahoma fell out of the Top 25 this week. The Tigers lost 18-13 at Auburn in the Tiger Bowl. They seemed to score on the final play, but it was determined that LSU failed to get the snap off before the clock struck zero — and now Les Miles looks like a man with one foot out the door in Baton Rouge. Oklahoma, despite sitting idle this weekend, dropped out after starting the season 1-2. Though their losses came to top-six teams Houston and Ohio State, the Sooners finally fell out after other teams made their mark.

After projecting one team to fall out of the rankings, there were actually two open spots. One was given to TCU, who continues to rebound from their loss to Arkansas. The Horned Frogs moved to 3-1 on the season with a 33-3 win over SMU in the Battle for the Iron Skillet. The other open spot went to Boise State, which knocked off its second Pac-12 opponent in Corvallis with a two-touchdown win at Oregon State.
