Week 5 picks: UGA's no favorite here, but can Irish trump Tigers?
WEST VIRGINIA (+7) at OKLAHOMA (noon ET, FS1)
Mandel: While QB Skyler Howard and the Mountaineers defense have been outstanding, WVU has yet to beat Oklahoma since joining the Big 12, and this is its first road game. Oklahoma 35, West Virginia 30
Feldman: Tony Gibson’s D is very good and is No. 1 in scoring defense, but Baker Mayfield and the explosive Sooners Air-Raid will be by far the most capable attack WVU has seen. I’ll go with the home team in a close one.Oklahoma 31, West Virginia 27
ALABAMA (+2.5) at GEORGIA
Mandel: Alabama will pressure Georgia QB Greyson Lambert in a way he has yet to face this season. The Tide hit on a couple more big plays than the Dawgs in a tight one. Alabama 20, Georgia 19
Feldman: This is the first real test for new UGA QB Greyson Lambert, and I think the Tide can contain Nick Chubb enough to get a good road win because I believe 'Bama is the better team in the trenches. Alabama 23, Georgia 17
OHIO STATE (-21) at INDIANA
Mandel: Jordan Howard and the Hoosiers test Ohio State’s thus-far dominant defense, but Cardale Jones and Ezekiel Elliott go off against an overmatched Indiana D. Ohio State 52, Indiana 24
Feldman: Jordan Howard has been fantastic for the unbeaten Hoosiers, but the Buckeyes D is on a different level from any of the four previous defenses he’s faced. The IU defense (112th in yards per play allowed) also is ideal for OSU to get its big-play offense cranked up. Ohio State 42, Indiana 17
BAYLOR (-17) vs. TEXAS TECH
Mandel: Texas Tech is capable of beating the Bears, but facing Arkansas, Baylor and TCU consecutively takes too much of a toll on banged-up QB Pat Mahomes. Baylor 42, Texas Tech 30
Feldman: This is the first real test the Bears have this season. Look for the Baylor wideouts to give Tech all sorts of problems, but don’t be surprised if the prolific Red Raiders O keeps it interesting deep into the second half. Baylor 48, Texas Tech 37
OLE MISS (-7.5) at FLORIDA
Mandel: Florida’s confidence must be soaring after last week’s comeback against Tennessee, but a veteran Ole Miss team will be undaunted at the Swamp. Ole Miss 27, Florida 17
Feldman: Interesting subplot here with the matchup between Laquon Treadwell and Vernon Hargreaves III. In truth, Chad Kelly has a lot of weapons at his disposal, and I think the Rebels will pull away in the fourth quarter from the Gators, who are coming off a huge emotional win last week. Ole Miss 27, Florida 14
