Published Sep. 15, 2015 10:06 a.m. ET

Very shortly after being stabbed in an altercation, two West Virginia Mountaineer football players have been dismissed from the team.

Redshirt freshman Tyree Owens and walk-on Kenyatta Greene were the two players that were stabbed in the altercation.

Owens and Greene were two of three victims stabbed by Devin Colston, who plays basketball at Division II Alderson Broaddus University, which is nearby Morgantown.

In a statement, West Virginia said Owens and Greene were dismissed from the team “due to a violation of team rules” stemming from their involvement in the altercation that happened Saturday, just hours after the Mountaineers’ win over Liberty.
