West Virginia down two starters for Cactus Bowl due to academics

Two West Virginia starters will miss the Mountaineers' bowl game on Jan. 2 against Arizona State due to academics.

Jovon Durante, one of WVU's top receivers, and Daryl Worley will miss the bout at Chase Field.

"It's next guy up," Holgorsen said. "We feel as a team that we have enough guys to be able to go to bat against a good, competitive Arizona State team.

"It probably means some extra snaps for some guys based on playing special teams and some offense and some defense, but we're not going to blink an eye. We're going to practice and we're going to line up and expect to go win."

Worley was an all-Big 12 selection at corner this season. Defensive lineman Eric Kinsey and safety Kevin Williams were also ruled ineligible.
