West Virginia QB fails miserably on pass attempt

Published Nov. 15, 2016 3:44 p.m. ET

West Virginia battled through injuries to win its season opener against Missouri on Saturday by a final score of 26-11.

While it was a solid win for the Mountaineers, it didn't come without a bit of turmoil.

Starting quarterback Skyler Howard left the game with a rib injury that he suffered while being tackled as he slid during a run just before halftime.

Sophomore William Crest Jr. took over for Howard but may have been a bit over-hyped for the moment, as one of his first pass attempts ended in embarrassing fashion.

While Mizzou caught a huge break on the fumble, it was unable to capitalize on the possession, and Howard returned to lead WVU to victory.
