West Virginia zeroing in on a defensive back?

Published Jan. 8, 2016 10:11 a.m. ET

With Daryl Worley declaring for the NFL Draft and Karl Joseph set to graduate, the Mountaineers are going to have some turnover in their defensive backfield.

Those were arguably the two best players on West Virginia's entire defense, and Dana Holgorsen will need to find some impact players to man the secondary. Does he have anyone specific in mind?

According to Blue and Gold Sports, JUCO defensive back Mike Daniels is West Virginia's first target.

“I will be visiting WVU the weekend of January 22nd and Kansas the weekend after. My decision will be between those two schools,” Daniels said of his upcoming trips. During his visit there are a few things that will be important to Daniels. “I want to see what kind of atmosphere WVU has both on and off the field and I want to continue to build my relationship with the coaching staff especially my recruiter, Coach Mitchell.”

We'll see if Daniels comes out of that weekend a Mountaineer.
