The Battle at Bristol is inching closer. Tennessee and Virginia Tech should be an epic clash. Here’s what Hokies fans are saying about the Volunteers.

Well, it’s finally here, the Battle at Bristol. Fans of Tennessee and Virginia Tech have been waiting three years for September 10, 2016, to come and it has.

Tennessee is coming off a near disaster 20-13 overtime win over Appalachian State while Virginia Tech defeated Liberty 36-13 in its opener.

Now, the fans of Virginia Tech have flipped from thinking Tennessee will win to Virginia Tech will win about like a college football fan flips through the channels on a Saturday.

Nonetheless, most of them tuned in to Tennessee’s opener as they saw the #9 team in the nation struggle. This has opened hope to all Hokie fans.

Hokie fans go to their 247sports board called “The Tunnel” for most of their discussion. I started following this board at the beginning of summer. Then, Va Tech fans were expecting a close game at half with Tennessee pulling away. Most were aware with what Tennessee returned.

After Thursday night, a Hokie win is achievable in their minds. They believe the holes App State exposed against the Vols are holes that Virginia Tech can and will take advantage of.

Moreover, they were not impressed with Dobbs. The Hokies want defensive coordinator Bud Foster to stack the box and make Dobbs beat them with his arm.

Meanwhile, they expect their big-time receiver Isaiah Ford to present problems for the secondary. Butch Jones has already addressed that Cameron Sutton will not be on is side of the field. Risky move. However, Hokie fans think their team will have some slips ups but nothing too extreme.

As far as playing at Bristol, there hasn’t been much talk on their board. All the talk has been about the playing on the field not the venue itself. They are excited to be playing Tennessee. The game they saw Thursday night has boosted their confidence to another level. It will all unfold in front of 150,000+ Saturday night under the lights of Bristol Motor Speedway.
