When it comes to USC's non-conference schedule, all eyes are on Notre Dame

No need to look any further, because when it comes to breaking down USC's non-conference schedule, Notre Dame is all that matters.

Sure, the Trojans must avoid an upset against Arkansas State and Idaho, because who needs another Boston College reminder, right?

But assuming USC takes care of the early cupcakes, the big showdown will feature the Fighting Irish on Oct. 17 in South Bend. ESPN's Ted Miller breaks down the three opponents, but it's Notre Dame that has his attention the most.

"Obviously, the Trojans' nonconference schedule is all about the date with the Irish, a game that will be listed on many preseason lists as a potential critical juncture in the chase for the CFP," writes Miller. "If USC beats Notre Dame to improve to 6-0, it's almost certain to be ranked in the top four."

It's no wonder USC has sky-high expectations in 2015, but the Trojans must capitalize on that opportunity by producing quality wins early on.
