Whether Billings stays or goes, Bears get impressive DL reinforcement
The Baylor Bears will be bringing in an impressive reinforcement on the defensive line next season in NJCAA Football Defensive Player of the Year Jeremy Faulk.
Faulk, a Florida native who played two seasons at Garden City (Kan.), racked up 18.5 tackles-for-loss, tying for 10th in the country during the regular season, 87 total tackles and 7.5 sacks this season.
"When I didn’t think I was going to make my goal of graduating and playing major college football, Garden City gave me an option when I thought there were none," Faulk said in a statement released by the NJCAA on Wednesday. "The work ethic and faith instilled in me by my mother and structure provided for me by Garden City Community College is where I learned to never give up and never give in."
Baylor will lose seniors Shawn Oakman and Jamal Palmer from the defensive line, and junior Andrew Billings, an AP All-American first-team selection and the Big 12 co-Defensive Player of the Year, is a possibility. He apparently is undecided as to whether he will return for his senior season for enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
