Who will Utah turn to with RB Devontae Booker sidelined?

Published Nov. 19, 2015 4:43 p.m. ET

Utah senior RB Devontae Booker is scheduled to undergo minor knee surgery on Thursday that will likely keep him out until Utah's bowl game.

The No. 13 Utes (8-2, 5-2) still have a shot at the PAC-12 title and can take a step closer to the championship game by defeating UCLA in Salt Lake City on Saturday.

Losing Booker is a huge blow for the Utes. Booker has been a workhorse for the Utes and is ranked No. 13 in the nation in rushing yards with 1,261 and No. 10 in all purpose yards with 1,579.

Utah's backup running back, junior Joe Williams, only has 78 rushing yards this season. Will he be able to succeed in Booker's spot, especially considering the heavy load Utah placed on Booker?

It remains to be seen whether the Utes will lean heavily on Williams or they will move to a multiple back system.

Outside of Booker and Williams, the only Utes running back to receive work this season is junior Marcus Sanders-Williams who has gained four yards on two carries.
