Why John Franklin III Should Play Early and Often vs. Arkansas
Here we explain why Auburn quarterback John Franklin III should receiver a lot of playing time against Arkansas this weekend.
It’s no secret that Arkansas’ defense struggles against the run, and that Auburn’s offense is one of the best at running the football.
For that very reason I think John Franklin III needs to be involved early and often in the game Saturday night – especially if Kerryon Johnson isn’t 100 percent.
I believe Kamryn Pettway has the ability to pound it up the middle all game and get four or five yards a pop like he did against Mississippi State.

However, if Arkansas tries to load the box and stop him, we need to be able to stretch the field with speed. The best way to do that is with Johnson and John Franklin III running on the outside.
To be clear, I am not suggesting that John Franklin III should start this game or take over at quarterback for Sean White. I just think that given the circumstances, it makes sense to get John Franklin III involved in the running game this weekend.
Trevor Knight had a field day against Arkansas rushing for 157 yards on just 10 carries. John Franklin III is a much faster runner than Knight, and could put up similar numbers if given the opportunity.
Just about every time John Franklin III has come into the game this season – granted mostly in mop up duty – he’s taken off for a big gain on the ground.
I think it would almost be foolish if Auburn did not at least give him 10 opportunities to run in this football game.
Arkansas’ defense does not have the speed to keep up with John Franklin III. Their linebackers are very good, but only if they can catch you.
The Tigers should come out in their normal offense and try to move the ball that way, but if it proves ineffective or we see Arkansas start stacking the box, I think Auburn has to put John Franklin III in the game.
