Will road games stall Purdue's rebuild?

Published Jun. 10, 2015 11:12 a.m. ET

Purdue head coach Darrell Hazell is entering the all important third year of his rebuilding effort with the Boilermakers. There is talent on the roster and there is some positivity for the program who who has won just four games in the last two seasons.

The schedule will not help the Boilermakers though as they have the fourth toughest road slate per Athlon Sports:

"The schedule isn't going to do Darrell Hazell any favors in 2015 as far as his rebuilding effort goes. The Boilermakers open with a trip to Marshall — a game they're not likely to be favored in. Once conference play starts, they can look forward to trips to East Lansing, Madison, Evanston and Iowa City. Northwestern is the only team on Purdue's road schedule that didn't play in a bowl game last year."

That is a very difficult road schedule for a team looking to keep their coach off the hot seat this season. Going 2-3 in those five road games will be considered a major success.
