Willie Taggart Interviews With Oregon Football
The Oregon Ducks and Rob Mullens have started the interview process for a new Head Coach for Oregon Football.
It is being reported by ESPN that Mullens has spoken with University of South Florida Coach Willie Taggart concerning the Ducks opening. The Ducks also have a former NFL Coach in their corner in Tony Dungy who started the conversation with Oregon. Dungy has direct ties to the USF Program through his son Eric who played for the Ducks and transferred to USF in 2014.
Mullens is in Texas this weekend for the College Football Playoff Committee.
WIllie Taggart would be an interesting move for the Oregon Ducks. The Offensive Philosophy would not have to be totally torn down, but restructured. Taggart also has experience on the West Coast having worked with Stanford and David Shaw as an Assistant. He will also know the territory when it comes to recruiting, which may be a concern for another coach who is not as familiar with the Pacific Northwest.
Mullens also interviewed Boise State Head Coach Bryan Harsin. We finally have a timeline for the naming of the Oregon Ducks next Head Coach for Oregon Football. Mullens would like to have a new Head Coach in place by next week.
Mullens is still expected to interview Western Michigan’s PJ Fleck, along with Ohio State Defensive Coordinator Greg Schiano and former Oregon Duck Bill Musgrave who is with the Oakland Raiders.
