Following the Mountaineers practice on Thursday, Gibson traveled to Van High School in Boone County, W. Va. to present a few gifts to families needing some support for the holidays. 50 families from the community that make up Van High, Gibson’s alma mater, received $20,000 worth of gift cards to be used for toys, clothes, and food.
“I want those kids to wake up on Christmas morning and feel like every other kid does,” said the defensive coordinator. “They have gifts to open up.”
He also said how he doesn’t want kids to be asked at school, “What’d you get?” and not have an answer. Gibson plans to make this hometown holiday gifting a Mountaineer tradition.
