Alaphilippe wins Criterium Stage 4, Moscon claims lead
LANS-EN-VERCORS, France (AP) Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe beat Dan Martin in a sprint to win the fourth stage of the Criterium du Dauphine as the race reached the mountains on Thursday.
Gianni Moscon overtook teammate and previous leader Michal Kwiatkowski in the general classification as Team Sky retained the first three spots overall.
Dario Cataldo took part in a long breakaway and went solo after reaching the summit of the Mont Noir - the first beyond-category climb of this year's race - but was caught about 300 meters (yards) from the finish in Lans-en-Vercors.
Moscon has a six-second lead over Kwiatkowski and Geraint Thomas ahead of Friday's stage to Valmorel, where Chris Froome claimed his first stage victory at the Criterium back in 2013.
Froome is not entered this year.
