70 percent of PGA Tour players say Tiger Woods will never win another major
Just two years ago, it looked like Tiger Woods was back on his way towards winning five more majors to pass Jack Nicklaus for the most all-time. He won five tournaments in 2013, finishing second in the FedExCup standings.
Since then, Woods has dealt with a multitude of injuries, most notably a back ailment that has sidelined him since last August. It's now looking like Woods may never win another major, let alone four or five. And his fellow tour players feel the same way.
According to a poll conducted by ESPN in which 60 PGA Tour players were surveyed, 70 percent believe Woods will never win another major -- up from 63 percent in 2015. Furthermore, only 16 percent said Woods would win more majors than Phil Mickelson in the next five years, compared to 59 percent favoring Lefty. About 26 percent said it would be a tie.
Woods probably remains optimistic about his chances of winning another major title, but his odds are undoubtedly dwindling away. He hasn't set a timetable to return, though his agent Mark Steinberg expects that to happen sometime this year. In order to win a major, Woods has to participate. And that's the first step.
