SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) U.S. Solheim Cup captain Juli Inkster and assistant captain Pat Hurst teamed to win two nine-hole matches to help the United States take a 16-8 lead over the World team Friday in the Legends Tour's ISPS Handa Cup.

Inkster and Hurst beat Lorie Kane and Catriona Matthew 31-34 in the morning four-ball matches, and routed Liselotte Neumann and Alicia Dibos 29-36 in the afternoon modified alternate-shot session.

''Juli and I have never been paired together in the Solheim Cup, so we thought it would be fun,'' Hurst said. ''It worked out well.''

Danielle Ammaccapane and Kris Tschetter also won two matches. They edged Helen Alfredsson and Jan Stephenson 35-36 in the morning, and beat Wendy Doolan and Jenny Lidback 34-37 in the afternoon.

''Kris and I ham-and-egged it all day,'' Ammaccapane said. ''When one of us was out of it, the other picked up the slack. We played well, made birdies and we made a great team today.''

The event will conclude Saturday with 10 singles matches. Inkster is set to play Laura Davies, Hurst will meet Catriona Matthew, Ammaccapane will face Lidback, and Kris Tschetter will play Jane Crafter.
